The Philippines continues to communicate with the government of Iran to free the 18 Filipino crew aboard an oil tanker that was besieged in the Gulf of Oman - Department of Foreign Affairs

According to Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs Eduardo De Vega, the Philippine Embassy in Iran is scheduled to visit the said Filipinos who are now in Iran this coming weekend.

De Vega clarified that it was not armed groups that besieged them but the Iranian Navy personnel themselves.

It is said to have a connection to the court order of the Iranian government because such a ship was used to deliver oil to other countries even though there was an export ban.

However, De Vega said that the Iranian government assured them that the problem will be resolved immediately because they consider the Philippines a friend.

Right now, the aforementioned Filipinos are in good condition.
